Work stoppage and meetings to protest educational policies
The Greek Primary Teachers’ Federation, DOE, protested through a three hours’ work stoppage and meetings in major cities on November 9, the continuing educational policies that in no way benefit the education.
The Federation demands immediate appointments of permanent teachers that will cover all the needs of public education and struggles for a 14 years’ public and free school inclusive of a two years’ compulsory early childhood education. The struggle is also for the real support of the state for the special education as well as for the equalization of the rights of contract teachers with the ones of permanent teachers.
DOE aims also to achieve the decrease of the teacher – pupils ratio to 1:15 for the early childhood and 1:20 for the elementary school and the increase of public expenditures for the education. It also strongly strives for the salary and insurance rights of the teachers.
